“Founded 10 years ago, our company imports headphones and radios from the Chinese mainland and sells them under our Acson brand to wholesalers and retailers in Brazil. Acson is now a leading home-grown brand. It is our sixth time visiting the Hong Kong Electronics Fair. It’s an important and interesting fair. We like this fair because it is the place where we can find everything that we want. The products here are innovative and come with good quality. We have found several potential suppliers of headphones from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. Our broker will follow up with these suppliers and check their factories. We’ll place orders after the fair.”
Sandra Dadon, Managing Director, Acson Products Ltda, Argentina

“Launched in March 2011, our flash sales website offers both merchant products and proprietary products to consumers in Nigeria. Currently, electronic products represent about 40 per cent of our business. Electronic gadgets have become the fastest-growing product category. It is my first-time visit to the Hong Kong Electronics Fair. The HKTDC has arranged a lot of programme for me such as Buyer Forum and business matching meetings which are all very useful. I have found six potential suppliers from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong that offer tablets, bluetooth speakers, stylus pens, USB chargers, mobile accessories, cables and small home appliances. I am going to place sample orders at the fair. It’s really a good show. I’ll come again next year.”
Ogunmuyiwa Albert Babasehinde, Purchasing Manager, DealDey, Nigeria |

“Our company focuses on designing and manufacturing power banks, with Europe and Southeast Asia our main markets. We specialise in OEM/ODM projects that meet every customer’s specific requirements. Since 2011, we have been participating at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair twice a year because it provides a good opportunity for us to connect with new buyers and meet with existing customers. At this fair, we have met with new buyers mainly from Europe because we offer quality products which have met the requirements of European customers. Buyer traffic has been very good. We are happy with the results so far.”
Wilbur Ho, Senior Technical Manager, Technical Support, Y Plus X Technology Ltd., Hong Kong
“We specialise in designing and manufacturing small home appliances, consumer electronics and healthcare products which are exported mainly to emerging markets such as Africa and the Middle East. We are here at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair to promote our healthcare products which feature fashionable designs and multiple functions. At this fair, we have launched smart bands which keep track of the user’s sleep time, exercise, calorie and heart rate. We are showcasing our smart bands at the display area near the entrance of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, attracting many buyers to visit our booth. We have received favourable responses from American and European customers, helping us to expand our clientele base.”

Flexible, Convenient, Time-Saving Business Platform
Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. (ASTRI) introduces various innovative technologies such as portable interactive surface, a multi-touch panel and a gesture and motion control. The optical multi-touch technology can convert an ordinary conference room into an electronic one and it reduces R&D and maintenance costs through the development of related Android apps. The portable interactive surface has incorporated virtual-touch and flat-touch technologies which can be used to project ICON from computers on a surface through the touch function, providing a flexible business platform to all industries. ASTRI continues to promote technology licensing and transfer to the technology sector in order to raise Hong Kong’s R&D capabilities and competitiveness. |

City University of Hong Kong (Booth: 3G-C04) |
Low-Cost Technology Improves Communication
City University of Hong Kong introduces a new generation of data transmission hardware technologies such as an integrated terahertz analog circuit platform, an embedded light guide circuit board, a low-cost holographic projector and an implicit fan cursor. The holographic projector can be applied directly in the development of lens-free projector or 3D holographic display, allowing the system to be implemented in small size and with lower cost. The integrated terahertz analog circuit platform reduces the size constraint imposed on metallic waveguide based on components by using low-cost plastic as the waveguide material. Some specific applications that will benefit from this technology are communication, sensing, instrumentation and metrology. |

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Booth: 3G-B04) |
Using Laser Imaging Technology for Studying Organisms Supports Medical Development
Studying biological phenomena is instrumental to medical development. However, many transient biological phenomena are hard to observe due to the limitations of equipment. To facilitate transient study on living organisms, the research team led by Professor Chen Shih Chi from the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong has successfully developed a multi-mode high-speed stereoscopic imaging light microscope system. Utilising the laser imaging technology, this light microscope system allows users to capture images at 1,000 frames per second, 1 to 100 times faster than ordinary confocal microscopes. |

“In business for 12 years, Kodisoft provides various software and hardware solutions with USA and Europe being the major markets. We are visiting the Expo for the first time. This is really a world-class event with good organisation and there are so many interesting products. We’ve established contacts with potential suppliers from the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Korea and India. We’ve arranged with 17 mainland exhibitors to visit their factories in Guangzhou and Shenzhen next week. Talks will get underway with two mainland exhibitors for the supply of touch screens. Other potential items on the list include Intel-based boards and camera modules.”
Eva A. Zhovnerenko, Executive Assistant to the Chairman, Kodisoft, Ukraine
“Founded in 1992, KJB is a leading distributor of security and surveillance devices in USA. We source our products mainly through trade fairs. ICT Expo is big in scale and probably the best fair for finding new vendors and products. I am visiting the fair this year to learn about the latest technologies and in particular find new products like wifi cameras and IP cameras. I’ve found four to five potential suppliers from the Chinese mainland. Further negotiations will be conducted with them. I expect to take some time to finalise agreements for the supply of several items and the total amount of business is estimated at US$1 million a year.”
David Martin, Purchasing Manager, Research and Development, KJB Security Products, USA

"The subscription model of cloud computing offers an ideal solution to streamline operations and raise efficiency while Hong Kong is well-positioned to become a regional data centre hub. As a one-stop solutions provider, HGC is showcasing a diversity of innovative cloud applications such as cloud surveillance, cloud document management services and our new service WiseNET at the Expo. We are highly confident that these applications and services, coupled with our local and international telecoms services and data centre solutions will genuinely cater to the business needs of our customers, enabling us to establish long-term relationships. We are also very pleased to exchange ideas with IT professionals and industry peers at the Expo while taking advantage of this event to get to know a huge number of customers."
Jennifer Tan, Managing Director, Hutchison Global Communications Limited, Hong Kong
“Innopage develops smart apps for social networking and offers mobile application development services as well as e-publishing systems to clients. The apps market is growing rapidly and we will continue to see an increasing number of hardware devices being integrated with mobile apps in the future. We have been participating in the Expo for three consecutive years to promote our services. This is the right place to gain exposure. We concluded a solid business deal last year and we are confident of getting more business cooperation this time. The Expo has become a regular annual event for us to raise our company profile and explore opportunities to grow our business.”
Keith Li, Co-Founder and CEO, Innopage Limited, Hong Kong

“We have a strong ICT content creation industry in Canada, making us a viable partner in the sector. Over the years, Canada has established a strong and long-time partnership with Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland. This year, we are participating in the Expo with a total of 22 Canadian companies from five major categories including e-commerce, mobile apps, telecoms, enterprise software and software as a service (SaaS). Some of the companies have already teamed up with mainland manufacturers for business development. Those links would not have been possible if we had not come here. The Expo is a good one-stop platform for us to expand presence in Asia.”
James Maynard, President & CEO, Wavefront, Canada
